How it works

Arrival in Calgary

Skiers greeted by CMH representatives in lobby of Delta Calgary Airport Hotel 1 day prior to bus ride. Check-in assistance and room keys provided. If desired, reservations staff can book rooms at special rates.

Journey to Heli-Ski Area

CMH charter buses depart next morning. Departure times posted in lobby, and also listed in Travel Advice (mailed to confirmed guests). Don't miss the bus!

Bus trips vary from 4-7 hours, depending on destination. CMH staff welcomes guests at lodge in early afternoon. Safety and lodge orientation held later. Before or after dinner, lodge manager introduces staff and outlines daily routines.

Based on compatible skill level and expectations, guests are divided into groups on first evening.

Ski days

Mornings start with optional but highly recommended stretch/ warm up. On first day, guests receive avalanche transceiver and helicopter safety training.

All groups ski the same area, but on terrain best suited to their group. Skiing 8 or more runs a day is typical, although it's often possible to opt for a late start or early finish. Unless poor weather forces us indoors, lunch is a picnic in the mountains.

Afternoons end with sauna, whirlpool, hors d'oeuvres and lots of storytelling.

Return Home

CMH bus reaches Calgary in late evening. Most guests overnight at Delta Calgary Airport Hotel and fly out next day (CMH representatives again on hand). For extra charge, early departures from lodge can be arrranged (mid-afternoon arrival in Calgary enables guests to catch early evening flights).

Note: Skiers destined for CMH Kootenay can link to CMH via Calgary, Alberta; Castlegar, British Columbia; or Spokane, Washington. Transportation included in trip price for all Kootenay trips. Accommodation at Spokane International Airport at the Airport Ramada Inn.
